The Sons of The American Legion was first started and established in Portland ,Oregon on September 12-15, 1932.  The SAL is a non-political and nonprofit organization.  Squadron 202 holds their meeting at the Herbert Williams American Legion Post 202, 3669 Legion Lane, Columbia, Mo. 65201.

​In September 2011, the Herbert Williams American Legion Post 202 3669 Legion Lane, Columbia, Mo., started up a SAL Squadron 202 (Sons of the American Legion), with 10 charter members.  Jeff Sapp of Columbia, Mo., was the commander, which he held several other positions within the squadron.  A year later on September 27, 2012, Bryan P Bradford was elected as the new Commander for SAL Squadron 202.    Our squadron supports and helps with the American Legion, Ladies Auxiliary, and Legion Riders, here at Post 202.  Squadron 202 is here to help in anyway we can either at the post or at the VA hospital here in Columbia, Mo.. There are many projects, and programs that we do.
